About

I grew up in the small hippie community of Topanga Canyon, which is about a 15 minute drive into the mountains above Santa Monica, California.  At the age of 10, before I could start drinking boxed water and leading drum circles, my family relocated to Ventura, California, which is about an hour up the coast. In my teen years, I developed a love of sports. I played basketball for a couple years in high school, until an unfortunate benchwarming injury cut my career short. But I didn’t stay away from the court for long. The very next year I found refuge in the padded seats of the announcers booth. I began announcing all the football and basketball games, and did so for the remainder of my high school career. In college, I signed on with a local broadcast network and called high school and college football games on the radio. Upon graduation, I got a job at Cumulus Media Inc, the second largest radio provider in the country. At the time, I thought I was signing on to continue my pursuit of being a play by play broadcaster. What I discovered instead was a passion for the advertising industry. I began losing myself in copy writing, art direction, and all the creative elements that went into advertising. The challenge of creating a message that produced results for the client became an addiction. After a couple years in the marketing department, getting on the air was the least of my concerns. I now saw an undeniable potential in my ability to create compelling and entertaining advertising messages. Everything was starting to make sense. My diverse body of experience had given me the tools to succeed at an unexpected capacity. That’s when I decided to pursue a Masters degree in marketing and move towards my goal of working for a creative agency. I moved to Los Angeles, started studying, and am now working as a handyman as I finish up school and look for an opportunity in the advertising industry.
